I’m thrilled to share with you this recent Whitefish Bay newborn session that took place just before Thanksgiving! Their daughter was born early October and was around 8 weeks old at the time of our session. Even though she wasn’t an early newborn, we still got so many beautiful photos of her and her older sister. They were SO adorable together!
A lot of photographers will tell you that newborn photos need to take place within two weeks. Thankfully, this is not the case with lifestyle newborn photos! Many moms choose to wait to do their Whitefish bay newborn session until baby is older. While I recommend doing newborn photos in the first 2-3 weeks for that scrunchy newborn, waiting until baby is older can have a lot of benefits.
There are a lot of reasons why someone might want to wait until baby is a little older for a session:
Mom might need extra time to recover. Maybe the labor and delivery was harder than they originally thought, or there were complications. If this is the case, waiting a few extra weeks to better heal may be a good decision.
Many moms don’t intentionally wait, but decide once baby is born that they want to do photos when they previously thought that they didn’t. Meeting your sweet little baby can help you realize how much you actually DO want to get them photographed! If that’s you, it’s never too late to get the photos done! In fact, babies can often be more filled out after a few more weeks, which is so cute!
