When Danielle asked me to photograph her wedding at the Iron Horse Hotel, I was so excited!!! Not only is this a beautiful place for a wedding venue, but Danielle is a friend from church, and someone I’ve always admired for her love of people and strength in God, and I was so excited to have the opportunity.
Nick and Danielle’s wedding was one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever seen. It was full of love, laughter and (happy) tears. What struck me the most about the ceremony was how centered it was on the gospel as well as the commitment of marriage. They didn’t stand up and talk about how much they love each other – though you can be around them for just a short time and see how much they obviously do! – but talked about the choices they are making to be loyal to each other, their children, and to God.
I’m not much of a cryer, but this ceremony definitely brought tears to my eyes! The display of love shown by two families coming together, taking on parenting each other’s children, is beautiful. Danielle said it well as she spoke to her future step-son by saying “You don’t get to choose your family, but the beautiful thing about step-parents is that I get to choose, and I choose you as my son!” (paraphrased 😉 ) What a beautiful display of the gospel, that we, who did nothing to deserve God’s love, get to be loved just because he chooses us.
Another part of the wedding that really stood out to me was that Nick and Danielle introduced all of their guests! They made note of who everyone was, family and friends, and why they were there for their day. While this may seem small, it definitely shows their hearts of love and kindness for those around them to acknowledge everyone personally.
I could go on and on about this wedding and it’s beauty. I hope you’re able to see some of this love portrayed in these pictures. Danielle and Nick, thank you SO much for allowing me to be a part of your day! I’m grateful that God has brought the two of you together!
